It seems like every day we cannot escape political allegations, speechmaking and grandstanding, perhaps they need a different kind of soapbox: The Moose Jaw Soap Box Club held a soap box racing event for twenty-four young racers 15 years-old and under on the weekend of August 18, 2018. Soap Box racing is making a come-back, inching towards its glory days in the 1960’s. IBEW Local 2067 Member Bro. John Finlay is a strong supporter of soap box, and approached IBEW Local 2067 to sponsor the Moose Jaw event. “The event in Moose Jaw last weekend was great success” says Bro. Finlay, “IBEW’s support was greatly appreciated, the smile on my daughter’s face as she accepted her trophy says it all”. Local 2067 Business Manager Bro. Jason Tibbs stated: “You have to laugh when you see the faces of the kids as they pilot their cars, it takes you back to a simpler, carefree time.” Local 2067 had a huge presence at the event; as a major sponsor, as well as backing Bro. Finlay’s daughter’s car. “IBEW Local 2067 really stands behind these kinds of community events, it makes for good people and good memories.” Bro. Tibbs affirms.
